What is Nanotechnology ?

Nanotechnology is a new technology that refers to doing things at the nano-scale.
The nanotechnology is defined as being 0.1 and 100 nanometers.

NANO – from the Greek word means “dwarf" - is the prefix for measurement units of 10-9.

One nanometer is one billionth of a meter, by comparison, one human hair is about 80,000 nanometers thick.

The term "Nanotechnology" was defined by Professor Norio Taniguchi of Tokyo Science University in 1974.

Materials can have different physical and chemical properties at the nanoscale. Some are stronger, some change colors, some are better at conducting electricity and heat and some reflect light better.

Nanotechnology ofers possible solutions to many current problems by means of smaller, lighter, faster and better performing materials, components and systems. This technology is reaching the breakout point from science and R&D to commercialization and moving beond its early hype towards the practical.
